Two 3 year olds are on the steps/side of the pool, both of them fearing the water. One

closer to the mother than the other. The father is in the pool watching

The dunked kid now has the experience (he now knows what he didn't know) and his

brain

has the experience that he can walk off the step towards his Dad and he will be

picked up

with someone smiling at him and bouncing him and exuding praise upon

him. He is SAFE!

Do you want to guess which kid, within 5 minutes, was jumping to his Dad's

arms,

going

under water and then coming up laughing with his Dad, while the

other sat in

fear on the side

of the pool? (The fearful

child doesn't know what he

doesn't know.)
